(1st Hearing) HB 434 ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT ZONES (Schuring) Makes various changes in procedures governing the creation of joint economic development zones and certain joint economic development zones and certain joint economic development districts and makes other changes. HB 648 DISABILITY BENEFITS (Van Vyven) Makes changes to the disability benefit programs offered by the five state retirement systems and makes other changes in the law governing the state retirement systems. (2nd Hearing) WEDNESDAY, MAY 20 HOUSE LOCAL GOVERNMENT & TOWNSHIPS, 4 p.m., Rm. 121 HB 645 FARMLAND PRESERVATION (Krebs) Provides for the preservation of farmland through agricultural conservation easements and the Farmland Preservation Linked Deposit Program and makes other changes. (4th Hearing) HB 705 TOWNSHIP GOVERNMENT (Batchelder) Refers to townships that have adopted the limited self-government form of township government as "limited home rule townships" and makes other changes. (4th Hearing) HB 765 TOWNSHIP PARTITIONING (Terwilleger) Provides that a township reduced at the request of a municipal corporation to less than 22 square miles may continue as a reduced township unless a petition is filed by the township electors, changes the procedure for partitioning a township, and changes who may petition in a township to have the unincorporated township territory separated from the incorporated township territory. (1st Hearing-Possible vote) HOUSE PUBLIC UTILITIES, 4 p.m., Rm. 017 HB 220 ELECTRIC COMPETITION (Amstutz) Establishes a state policy promoting competition and customer choice in the supply of electricity within the state and makes other changes. HB 204 GOVERNMENT PURCHASES (Wachtmann) Allows certain political subdivisions to purchase supplies and services outside of a Department of Administrative Services purchase contract and without complying with competitive selection procedures if the purchase can be made at a lower price than is available through such a contract. (1st Hearing) THURSDAY, MAY 21 HOUSE WAYS & MEANS, 9 a.m., Rm.121 HB 662 TAX ABATEMENTS (Brady) Requires the legislative authority of a political subdivision that grants certain property tax exemptions to fully reimburse school districts for the amount of tax revenue that would have been received had the property not been exempted. (1st Hearing) SB 142 MANUFACTURED HOUSING (B. Johnson) Revises the sales and use taxes applicable to manufactured homes and makes other changes. (2nd Hearing) SB 223 LAND USE (Drake) Clarifies the agricultural land uses that may be the subject of conservation easements and makes other changes. (2nd Hearing-Possible vote) HOUSE STATE GOVERNMENT, 10:30 a.m., Rm. 122 SB 184 PUBLIC RECORDS (Oelslager) Generally grants members of the public the option of choosing the medium in which they will receive copies of public records and requires a public office to transmit copies of a public record through the U.S. mail if so requested.
