SPECIAL BULLETIN May 4, 2005 PLEASE CIRCULATE THIS BULLETIN TO YOUR COUNCIL, DEPARTMENT HEADS & STAFF TESTIMONY ON THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT FUNDS & OTHER IMPORTANT LOCAL GOVERNMENT ISSUES NEXT WEEK. Next Thursday, May 12, is local government’s day to testify before the Senate Finance and Financial Institutions Committee on HB 66, the Biennial Budget Bill. The committee is scheduled to begin taking testimony at 1:30 p.m. in the Senate Finance Hearing Room. Please, plan to attend to testify or be present to show your support. Those local officials who have representation on the Committee should give serious consideration to attending this important event. Just your presence at this hearing would be very helpful. If you plan on presenting testimony, it’s also helpful if you can let us know that in advance. Members of the Senate Finance and Financial Institutions Committee include: Senators John Carey, Chair, David Goodman, Vice Chairman, Ron Amstutz, Steve Austria, Gary Cates, Patricia Clancy, Randy Gardner, Tom Niehaus, Joy Padgett, Tom Roberts, Ranking Minority Member, Daniel Brady, Ray Miller, Charlie Wilson
To aid in this endeavor, the League and other organizations with an interest in local government will be sponsoring a briefing/luncheon event to help prepare you for the day. During this event, we will present the latest information available concerning the Local Government Funds and other budget items that effect you. A light lunch will also be available. This event will begin about 11:45 a.m. and will be located in either the North Hall of the Statehouse, located outside the Governor’s ceremonial office or in the Senate Atrium. We will post on our website the exact location of this event as soon as we know it. Hope to see you on the May 12th. Please, Note: Because we are staffing a number of cooperating association meetings on Friday of this week, we will not publish a regular Legislative Bulletin this week. E-mail Bulletin will be sent and posted on our website, along with next week’s committee schedule. |
